Home away from home?is a collection of the unique stories written by foreigners in China and compiled by Master Translations Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "MTS"), Babel Tower Translation Service Co., Ltd. and Moze (Beijing) Technology Communication Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Moze"), aiming to explore the unique stories of approximately 100 foreign friends who came to China from all over the world.《家外之家》是一本外國人在中國的獨特故事集，由外國人撰寫，廈門精藝達翻譯服務(wù)有限公司（以下簡稱“精藝達”）、巴別塔（深圳）翻譯有限公司、墨責(zé)（北京）科技傳播有限公司（以下簡稱“墨責(zé)”）面向全國共同征集匯編。

I came to China by surprise and without thinking too much, after more than five years in China, coming was without a doubt a good decision, and the good memories are much more than the bad ones.我來中國完全是一個意外，也沒有多想。我已經(jīng)在中國呆了五年多，這無疑是一個很棒的決定，美好的回憶遠遠多于糟糕的回憶。

Greetings to anyone who might be reading this. It’s been a while since I’ve written anything meaningful so let me start off by telling you a little bit about myself. I first came to China roughly five years ago which was 1 year after I had finished university. Uncertain of what I wanted to do with the rest of my life, one thing I was certain of was that a change was needed. I began looking into various opportunities abroad and stumbled upon the option of teaching English in China. Having travelled to most parts of the world, I thought: “What could be more different than China, right?”正在閱讀這篇文章的朋友，你們好。我已經(jīng)有段時間沒寫過特別有意思的東西了，所以讓我先簡單介紹一下自己。我第一次來到中國是五年前，那年是我大學(xué)畢業(yè)一年后。當時我不確定未來想做什么，但有一件事是確定的，那就是我需要改變。我開始在國外尋找各種機會，偶然間我發(fā)現(xiàn)可以去中國教英語。我走遍了世界上的大部分地方，心想：“還有什么地方比中國更與眾不同呢？”

The first time I had a Chinese friend was at the age of 6. I had two Chinese classmates who could barely speak Italian, but at that time language wasn’t as important as it is now.我在 6 歲時交到了第一個中國朋友。那時候班上有兩個幾乎不會說意大利語的中國同學(xué)，不過那時候語言也沒現(xiàn)在這么重要。

Let’s be honest, every little girl wants to grow up to be a princess. We all do! I know I sure did. As a child in Texas, I often found any excuse to don a fancy gown with a matching tiara. As an adult I have made numerous treks to Disneyland with friends and family. So, imagine my excitement in the fall of 2017 when Disney English (“DE”) selected me to teach!說實話，每個小女孩長大之后都想做公主吧！大家都這樣，我也不例外。作為一個在德克薩斯州長大的小孩，我總是想方設(shè)法地穿上漂亮精致的裙子，戴上配套的王冠。長大之后，我也經(jīng)常和家人朋友去迪士尼旅游。所以，當2017年我成功選上迪士尼英語的老師時，我高興極了！

Honestly, I never thought in my lifetime that I would be living in China, but my husband’s dream brought me to this heaven on earth. Just like many Indian women, who instead of following their dreams end up following and supporting their husband’s. In 2007, I moved to China from Indonesia to support him and his dreams. The first city I visited was Quanzhou in Fujian Province, with my husband and my son who was just a year old.老實說，我這輩子從沒想過會住在中國，但我丈夫的夢想把我?guī)У搅诉@個天府之國。就像許多印度女性一樣，她們沒有追隨自己的夢想，而是決定追隨并支持丈夫的夢想。2007年，我從印度尼西亞搬到中國，支持我的丈夫和他的夢想。我第一次去的城市是福建泉州，和我的丈夫以及剛滿一歲的兒子一起。

I remember my first full day in China at the new school I was contractually obligated to live and work at for the next 6 months. Because of jet lag I woke up really early and had hours until I met my boss, so I decided to explore the area around the campus, and maybe find the city center and places like supermarkets and restaurants in my new home in Zhejiang Province.我還記得我第一天到中國新學(xué)校的場景，而且接下來的六個月我都必須要在中國生活和工作。因為時差的關(guān)系，我醒得很早，距離見到老板還有好幾個小時，于是我決定去校園周圍轉(zhuǎn)轉(zhuǎn)，或許能在我的新家——浙江，試著找到市中心，或是超市和餐館
