When I tell many people that I live in China, they ask me questions about crowds, traffic, and other problems that they’ve heard exist in China. I’ve been living internationally for 18 years and this is the start of my fourth year in China. To answer these questions, I always show pictures of where I live – in a beautiful beach side community with no traffic and no crowds. Actually, I used to believe those stereotypes about China, too. At one point, I said ‘Never China’ when thinking of where to go next. I’m so glad I decided to change my mind and give China a chance.如果告訴別人我住在中國(guó)，他們會(huì)問(wèn)我中國(guó)的人口、交通等問(wèn)題。我已經(jīng)在世界各地生活了 18 年，今年是我在中國(guó)生活的第四年。我回答這些問(wèn)題的方式就是向他們展示我家小區(qū)的照片——一個(gè)美麗的海濱小區(qū)，那里沒(méi)有擁堵的交通，沒(méi)有龐大的人口。事實(shí)上，我也曾認(rèn)為那些對(duì)中國(guó)的刻板印象是真的。我在考慮下一站去哪里的時(shí)候，一度說(shuō)“絕對(duì)不去中國(guó)”。我很慶幸自己改變了想法，給中國(guó)一個(gè)機(jī)會(huì)。

My journey began in 2011 when I started studying at the Confucius Institute of Ecuador. I fell in love with the language right away and committed to studying Mandarin Chinese until I could speak the language perfectly. This started a journey that will last forever.2011 年，我開(kāi)始在厄瓜多爾孔子學(xué)院學(xué)習(xí)，我的中國(guó)之旅也由此開(kāi)始。我一下子就愛(ài)上了漢語(yǔ)并開(kāi)始學(xué)習(xí)，立志精通這門(mén)語(yǔ)言。從此，我開(kāi)啟了一段永恒的旅程。

My journey started in 2008 in Xiamen. It all started with when my previous employer came to India that year and saw what I was capable of. I had been offered an opportunity to come to China in 2005 but I turned it down so I figured that this second opportunity was a sign that I could not say no to. When I first came here, I was surprised that there were a lot of yoga places in Fujian and as I first worked in Xiamen, my company decided to send me to Quanzhou to live from 2008-2010. Those were the best 2 years of my life and it definitely left a lasting impression on me about China. After those 2 years, I pondered opening my own company and in 2011 I officially became a yoga entrepreneur.2008 年，我的中國(guó)之旅從廈門(mén)起航。那年，我之前的老板來(lái)到印度，發(fā)現(xiàn)了我的能力。2005年，我本有機(jī)會(huì)來(lái)到中國(guó)，但我拒絕了，所以我想這次一定要抓住機(jī)會(huì)。我第一次來(lái)到廈門(mén)的時(shí)候，我很驚訝，福建竟然有這么多瑜伽館。我第一次在廈門(mén)工作的時(shí)候，公司決定讓我 2008 年去泉州居住，在那兒居住兩年。那是我生命中最美好的兩年，也令我對(duì)中國(guó)形成了深刻的印象。兩年后，我考慮開(kāi)一家自己的公司，2011 年我的瑜伽公司正式成立。

I used to work in the construction industry in Germany and in 2006 I got the opportunity to interview for a job as a Construction Manager for the company’s branch in Shanghai. I applied for the position and was successful! So, my journey to China started on January 2007 and I was really happy but also a bit worried.
我來(lái)中國(guó)之前，在德國(guó)工作，從事建筑行業(yè)。2006 年，我申請(qǐng)了上海分公司建筑經(jīng)理的職位。通過(guò)面試，我成功地獲得了這個(gè)崗位！就這樣，我的中國(guó)之旅從 2007 年 1 月開(kāi)始，我當(dāng)時(shí)非常高興，但又懷揣些許不安。

It all started with a phone call where a friend told me about scholarships to China to study the language back in 2010. Without hesitation, or being very aware of what I was doing, I applied and the 1-year option as I had in mind did not exist. The options were 2 years to study language or 5 years to study a Degree. I thought about it, discussed it with my family and with their absolute support and only 19 years of age, I arrived in the capital of China in September 2010. Wudaokou, BLCU, friends and an unforgettable experience from the very beginning.我的中國(guó)之旅始于一通電話。2010年，一位朋友告訴我可以申請(qǐng)去中國(guó)學(xué)習(xí)漢語(yǔ)的獎(jiǎng)學(xué)金。我毫不猶豫就申請(qǐng)了，我非常清楚自己在做什么。我本來(lái)想在中國(guó)學(xué)習(xí)一年，但是想取得學(xué)位只有兩年或者五年的學(xué)制。經(jīng)過(guò)深思熟慮，并和家人討論，在他們的絕對(duì)支持下，2010 年 9 月，當(dāng)時(shí)只有 19 歲的我來(lái)到了中國(guó)的首都北京，進(jìn)入了五道口的北京語(yǔ)言大學(xué)。朋友以及難忘的經(jīng)歷，我故事的開(kāi)始。

To me, China was always this place on my had-to-see list. Since I was little boy, I was fascinated and intrigued by this magical place with its rich culture and many different dishes that I only saw on TV. My dad and I used to watch all the kung-fu and Bruce Lee movies over and over again.中國(guó)一直是我一定要去的地方。我從小便向往這個(gè)神奇的國(guó)度，對(duì)其豐富的文化和各色佳肴感到好奇，而這些我只能從電視上看到。我和父親會(huì)不斷回看所有功夫片和李小龍的電影。

My Name is Bode, I’m an artist, a creative in the sports industry and a former UK National Champion in track & field. Over the past 22 years I have been fortunate to have a career in merging both of my life passions together. Hello! My name is Joyce and I come from Belgium. I’ve been living in China now for about 4 years. In the beginning, I got a job as an English teacher and at the moment I am trying to start my own business in fashion and writing a book in my spare time. They’re both a risk and I’m not sure if things are going to work out in the end, but I find enormous joy in doing those tasks and that’s what matters, right?
